Shiva Ratri Festival 2016 in Nepal
The Shiva Ratri Festival 2016 falls on 7th March 2016. And, please mark your calendar, The Maha Shivaratri 2017 date is: 24 February 2017.
Every year, same celebration are going on in Pashupatinath Temple, which is one of the most important UNESCO world heritage site in Nepal, and thousands of people will be visiting this temple to worship the Lord Shiva.
Today is the day of LOVE – According to the Hindu mythology, Maha Shivaratri is the day when Shiva and Shakti united as one. It is the day when Shiva got married to Parvati, which is known to be one of the form of Goddess Shakti.
Shivaratri is considered especially auspicious for women. While married women pray for the well being of their husbands, unmarried women pray for a husband like Lord Shiva, who is regarded as the ideal husband.
This year – 2016, we went to Pashupatinath Temple again, took these set of photos, to tell you how the locals celebrate this special day – The Maha Shiva Ratri 2016!
