    Australian Camp Trek from Pokhara is one of the several short day hike Pokhara and is suitable for trekkers of all ages to experience the ‘Himalayan’ trek. Among many short treks around Pokhara, Australian Camp day trek is undoubtedly the most preferred. Australian Camp Day Trek from Pokhara is a single day trek that starts from Kande and ends at Phedi.

    It takes 2 and half hours to reach Australian Camp which is located at an altitude of 2025m. Then after, return route for this short trek from Pokhara is through the famous Dhampus village. You will further walk past Dhampus to reach Phedi, from where you can easily drive back to Pokhara. Australian Camp day trek is not only for Australians but for trekkers of all nationalities and age brackets.

    CANCELLATION POLICY

    Cancellation policy is only applicable to package tariffs. The cancellation charge will be against the total package cost after deducting non-refundable expenses such as permits, transportation costs, airfare expenses that have been paid as part of the trip.
    • If you cancel your trip 30 days prior to the program start date, 15% cancellation fees of the total package cost will be charged.
    • Any cancelation made 15 days prior to the program start date, 30% cancellation fees of the total package cost will be charge.
    • If you cancel your trip 1 week prior to the program start date, 50% cancellation fees of the total package cost will be charge.
    • cancelation made less than one week prior to the program start date, it will be deemed as no show and hence no refund will be made.
    • You must notify us about cancellation through writing via email.

    AUSTRALIAN BASE CAMP DAY HIKE ITINERARY IN DETAILS

    The most preferred clockwise route starts in Kande and ends at Phedi. Here is itinerary in details.

    Day 1Australian Base Camp hike

    Early morning, we will pick you up at 8am from lakeside Pokhara and drive to Kande. We suggest you to have your breakfast before 8am. The drive takes less than 1 hr. We begin our trek from Kande; the trail is uphill all the way to Australian Camp. You can enjoy the majestic views of Annapurna ranges, Macchapuchre, Hiunchuli, Dhaulagiri and Lamjung Himal from the Australian camp. After eating warm lunch at the Camp you will trek down to Dhampus. Dhampus is a scenic village inhabited by Magar and Gurung communities. Spending sometime in Dhampus, we trek further down to Phedi and then finally drive back to Pokhara.

    During summer, the temperature in the day is about 30- 35 degree Celsius and 20 degree Celsius in the morning/evening. Sometimes due to unexpected weather, the temperature drops to 10 - 15 degree Celsius. While you touring you should travel as light as possible so we advise to carry less gadgets and belongings.     Australian Camp to Dhampus trek is the shortest hike around Pokhara. You will reach a maximum height of 2060m and visit Dhampus village, which is the most photographed village in Nepal. Especially during March-April, you can see rhododendrons in full bloom and also experience 180 degree panorama of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna ranges.

    Dhampus Australian camp trek is an easy trek, making it suitable for all age group of travelers. Anyone with normal physical fitness and even kids above 6 years can complete this trek with ease. This trek is best for both family and students.

    The distance from Kande to Australian Camp is 6Km. It takes 2 hr uphill trek reach Australian Camp from Kande. The trek is graded moderate.

    Is worth doing Australian camp to Sarangkot trek?

    Australian Camp to Sarangkot trek is one of the most popular short hiking routes from Pokhara. This one day trek is best for those tourists who have limited time. Catch amazing mountain views of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Mt. Fishtail and Lamjung Himal from Australian Camp at the height of 2165m. You will also have the chance to visit Dhampus village and observe local culture. All in all Australian camp to Sarangkot trek is definitely worth doing.

    Best time for Australian Camp trek

    Australian Camp trek can be done any time of the year. However, Autumn (October-November) and Spring (February-April) are considered the best trekking periods. Especially the month of April is perfect to see beautiful rhododendron flowers in nearby forest.

    Australian camp weather

    The weather at Australian Camp during summer is 25-30 degree Celsius but 5-10 degree Celsius in winter. Since Pokhara is one of the highest rainfall zones in Nepal, therefore expect heavy rainfall around Australian Camp during June to August.
