Start your journey with a 20-minute drive (6 kilometers) from downtown Thamel to Fulbari gate on the Kathmandu-Trishuli Pasang Lhamu highway. After obtaining your national park entry ticket, begin the uphill trek to Jamacho peak. The steep stone path, though challenging, offers a shorter route to the top.
After 30-45 minutes of steep hiking, you’ll reach a small clearing marked by wild boar diggings. The dense forest hosts diverse flora, herbs, and wildlife including Himalayan black bear, spotted leopard, deer, and Rhesus monkeys. Following 2.5-3 hours of ascent, reach Jamacho’s summit, where you can visit the monastery and enjoy mountain views. The descent to Fulbari gate takes about 1.5 hours. Bird and butterfly enthusiasts might want to allocate extra time for wildlife observation. After the trip, you’ll be dropped back to your hotel/destination.

We had a wonderful day with Eyes on Nepal and our guide Hari. We had very little time to hike around Kathmandu with our little kids. It was quite challenging, but Mr. Siddartha organized it quite well. His recommendation for this Nagarjun hike was absolutely fantastic. We enjoyed it a lot.
