    Introduction

    Nar Phu Valley trek is one of the newest and most adventurous trekking routes in the famous Annapurna region. This involves a journey to Nar and Phu villages located close to Tibetan border and showcases Tibetan culture and lifestyle.

    Trekkers will cross two highest passes, namely Kang la and Thorong la and experience Kali Gandaki gorge- the world’s deepest gorge. Enjoy stunning views of Manaslu, Annapurna II, Lamjung Himal, Himlung Himal, Peak 29 and Pisang Peak from different points along the trek.

    The other major highlight of Nar Phu Valley trek is the tour of Muktinath temple. Hike through Marshyangdi and Kali Gandaki valleys and learn about ethnic Thakali culture in Jomsom, Kagbeni and Ekle Bhatti villages.

    CANCELLATION POLICY

    Cancellation policy is only applicable to package tariffs. The cancellation charge will be against the total package cost after deducting non-refundable expenses such as permits, transportation costs, airfare expenses that have been paid as part of the trip.
    • If you cancel your trip 30 days prior to the program start date, 15% cancellation fees of the total package cost will be charged.
    • Any cancelation made 15 days prior to the program start date, 30% cancellation fees of the total package cost will be charge.
    • If you cancel your trip 1 week prior to the program start date, 50% cancellation fees of the total package cost will be charge.
    • cancelation made less than one week prior to the program start date, it will be deemed as no show and hence no refund will be made.
    • You must notify us about cancellation through writing via email.

    Day 2Morning drive from Kathmandu to Jagat (1300m)

    After breakfast, you will drive from Kathmandu to Jagat which takes about 8-9 hrs. You will enjoy the journey through winding roads and scenic view of villages, green hills, mountains and rivers. Pass through  Besisahar to reach Jagat. Stay overnight in hotel.

    Day 3Trek from Jagat to Dharapani (1860m)

    Enjoy warm breakfast and prepare for first day of trekking.  Led by your trekking guide, you will start walking on a rocky path towards Chame and further to Tal village.  At Tal you will see a natural waterfall. The trail then enters a forest and comes out at Karte village. You will now cross a suspension bridge to arrive at Dharapani. Stay overnight in lodge.

    Day 4Trek from Dharapani to Koto (2610m)

    Start your trek after breakfast. You will spend the first hours or so walking through pine forest to reach Bagarchhap. From here onwards the trail climbs up to Timang via Danaque. From this altitude you can  catch views of Peak 29, Manaslu and Annapurna II. Follow the forested trail to Koto village. Stay overnight in lodge

    Day 5 Trek from Koto to Meta (3560m)

    The trek from Koto to Meta will last for 7-8 hrs. After checking permits at the police post, you will start trek along the bank of Soti khola. Enjoy wonderful views of forests and waterfalls as you close in on Dharmasala. Then climb steeply on a forested trail to be at Meta, which finally offers splendid views of  Annapurna II and Lamjung Himal. Stay overnight in Meta.

    Day 6Trek from Meta to Phu village (4250m)

    Another long trekking day is in store for you. Negotiate is a mix of uphill and downhill trail today, occasionally crossing small mountain streams. Stop over for sometime at Kyang which offers great views of Himlung Himal, Annapurna II and Pisang Peak. Another 3 hrs walk from here on a rugged trail lead you to Phu Village where you will observe Tibetan culture and lifestyle of local people and visit Tashi Lkahang Monastery.     Day 7Trek from Phu Gaon to Nar village(4110m)

    After staying Phu village, now it’s time to go to Nar Village which is at 5-6 hrs walk. However, you will have to overcome the challenge of crossing two 5000m above Himalayan passes, namely Phu Pass(5050m) and Nar Pass(5400m). Further ahead you will come across a impressive gorge formed on Lapche River. Continue trekking further to Nar Village. Stay overnight in Nar village.

    This is a day you will spend in Nar village acclimatizing with the weather and preparing for higher journey ahead. Take a tour around Nar village, visit Tibetan monasteries and interact with monks and locals.

    Day 9Cross Nar -Kang La Pass(5,322m) and trek to Ngawal(3,660m)

    Today you will come to head-to-head with the biggest adventure of the entire trek: that of crossing Kang La pass.  The trail makes a steep ascent passing through yak pastures and moraine towards Kang la Phedi. Continue your trek to reach the top of Kang La Pass. You will be rewarded stunning view of Pisang peak, Tilicho peak, Annapurna II and Gangapurna . Stay overnight in lodge.

    Day 11Trek from Manang to Yak Kharka (4,110m)

    The trail from Manang ascends onto Marshyangdi Valley. Further ahead you will go by Jarsang Khola towards  a grove of juniper trees that eventually give way to yak pastures and meadows.  Pass through Ghunsa village and after some time you arrive at Yak Kharka indicated by an ancient Mani wall. Stay overnight in lodge.

    Day 12Trek from Yak Kharkha to Thorong Phedi (4600m)

    Today you will approach the base of Thorong La pass.  Follow an uphill rocky trail for about 4-5 hrs to reach Thorong Phedi. Stay overnight in lodge.

    Day 13Cross Thorong La Pass (5425m) and trek to Muktinath (3800m)

    Wake up early and follow your guides’ instruction. Begin your push for Thorong La Pass by following a steep trail. Expect to experience icy winds and cold temperature. Climb gradually until you reach atop Thorang La pass. Spend sometime witnessing spectacular views of Annapurna Himalayan ranges from the pass. Afterwards follow a downhill, easy trail all the way to Muktinath. Stay overnight in hotel.

    Also called Chumig Gyatsa, Muktinath is a sacred place both Buddhists and Hindus. The religious shrines consists of 108 water spouts and an eternal flame.

    Day 14Trek from Muktinath to Jomsom(2715m)

    The trek from Mutinath to Jomsom is one of the most popular trekking route. You will enjoy an easy walk along the bank of Kali Gandai River and pass through Kagbeni, Khingar and Ekle Bhatti villages before reaching Jomsom. This area is home to ethnic Thakali community.  Jomsom is the headquarters of Mustang and ancient trading point between Tibet and Nepal. Stay overnight in Jomsom.

    Nar Phu valley trek permits

    Nar Phu Valley trek route passes through Annapurna Conservation Area and Nar Phu villages in Manang district along Nepal-Tibet border. So, trekkers who wish to do Nar Phu Valley trek must acquire two permits: one to enter Annapurna Conservation area and the other to enter Nar Phu restricted area. Only limited, group-based trekkers are allowed into Nar Phu Villages.
    The Annapurna Conservation Area permit costs approx. US$30 or NPR 3,000 per person whereas restricted area permit is USD 100 per week (September to November) and USD 75 per week (December to August).

    In 16 days Nar Phu Valley trek with Annapurna Circuit, your goal is to visit Nar Phu restricted area and then join the famed Annapurna Circuit route before descending down to Jomsom.     The best time to trek Nar Phu Valley is either Spring (March, April, May) or Autumn (September, October, November). Since Nar Phu Valley lies in trans Himalayan region, trekking is also possible during summer season (June, July, August). The only time to avoid Nar Phu Valley trek is during winter season.
