KATHMANDU FULL-DAY TOUR ITINERARY

Where Every Corner Has a Story, and Every Step Feels Like a Prayer

Kathmandu full-day tour- Itinerary

Your Kathmandu day tour starts on foot in the quiet old streets of Kathmandu. At Kathesimbu Stupa, devotees circle slowly, spinning prayer wheels and whispering prayers. Many believe that just walking around the stupa once removes bad karma from their life. A beautiful way to begin your morning.

The streets then pull you into Ason Spice Market — loud, colorful, and full of life. And at Indrachowk, do not walk past without trying a cold glass of Lassi. Locals have been drinking it here for generations. So will you.

At Kathmandu Durbar Square, kings once ruled and gods still live. You will stand quietly before the window of the Kumari — the Living Goddess, a young girl chosen through a secret sacred process to represent divinity on earth. If she appears at her window, consider yourself lucky. You will also explore Taleju Temple and Hanuman Dhoka, the ancient royal palace full of history and stories your guide will bring alive.

From here, continue your Kathmandu Tour Package and drive to Swayambhunath Stupa, better known as the Monkey Temple. If you have the energy, climb all 365 steps while monkeys curiously watch your every move. If not, simply drive to the top — no judgment. What waits at the top is worth it either way. This is one of the few places in the world where a Buddhist stupa and Hindu temples share the same hilltop, side by side, in complete peace. On a clear day, the surrounding mountains and the city below will take your breath away. And if you love monkeys — go ahead, dare to make a friend.

Boudhanath Stupa is the biggest stupa in Nepal and the heart of Tibetan Buddhist life in Kathmandu. Monks, monasteries, and Tibetan shops surround it on all sides. Walk slowly around the stupa, let the rhythm of the place settle into you, and find a quiet corner to sit for a few minutes. You may not meditate often. Here, it happens naturally.

Your last stop is Pashupatinath Temple, one of the most sacred Hindu temples in all of Asia. Beside the Bagmati River, you will observe cremation happening openly — and in that moment, something quiet hits you. Nothing is permanent. Life is precious. The Sadhus and Aghoris sitting nearby have understood this deeply — they have given up everything and chosen a path most of us cannot imagine. Speak to them if you can. They will give you a different way of looking at the world. And just a few steps away, pilgrims press their hands together and whisper their wishes to Lord Shiva — asking, hoping, believing. It is all happening at once, and somehow it all makes sense.

Your guide is a local who knows and loves this city deeply. They will walk with you at your own pace and answer every question you have
Why the Kumari is chosen?
What the Buddha’s eyes mean?
Why holy men smoke marijuana freely?
Why Hindus cremate by the river?
This is a private tour made just for you.

At the end of the day, you will return to your hotel tired — but quietly happy. Kathmandu does that to people.
