    Introduction

    Less crowded and an alternative to Everest base camp trek, Manaslu Circuit trek is an adventurous trekking route that takes you to Manaslu Base Camp and goes over the Larkey pass at an altitude of 5106m. Trek costs USD 1650 including transportation, all measl, permit, guide, porter, gears and accommodation.

    Manaslu Larke pass trekking is an alternative to Annapurna and Everest trekking regions. Trek itinerary partly touches the Annapurna circuit trek giving you the best of both the trekking trails. The Larke pass trekking offers spectacular views of Kangaru, Annapurna II, Himlung, Cheo Himal, Gyaji kung, Larke Himal etc. Other peaks seen from Manaslu Base Camp trek are Manaslu, Peak 29, Himanchuli, Manaslu North, Naike Peak Saula peak and Pankar Himal among others.

    Manaslu trek passes through Manaslu Conservation Area which is home to such rare species as Musk Deer, Ghoral and Kalij. As you move higher and closer Tibetan border, you will find many villages inhabited by Tibetan people who still follow medieval culture and lifestyle. Since this is a Tibetan Buddhism land, you will encounter many Buddhist monasteries including the biggest Puggen Gompa.

    This Manaslu circuit trek is less crowded and is a favorite among adventure and culture lovers. The trek is best approached during Spring (Mar-May) or Autumn (Sep-Nov).

    If more than 2 persons in a group, the price per person will be lower. For solo trekker, a supplementary charge will apply on top of the standard rate given above.

    CANCELLATION POLICY

    Cancellation policy is only applicable to package tariffs. The cancellation charge will be against the total package cost after deducting non-refundable expenses such as permits, transportation costs, airfare expenses that have been paid as part of the trip.
    • If you cancel your trip 30 days prior to the program start date, 15% cancellation fees of the total package cost will be charged.
    • Any cancelation made 15 days prior to the program start date, 30% cancellation fees of the total package cost will be charge.
    • If you cancel your trip 1 week prior to the program start date, 50% cancellation fees of the total package cost will be charge.
    • cancelation made less than one week prior to the program start date, it will be deemed as no show and hence no refund will be made.
    • You must notify us about cancellation through writing via email.

    The moderate level beautiful Annapurna basecamp trek is one of the must do trek in Nepal. Here is the day do day details itineracy for Annapurna Base camp trek 7 days 6 nights from Pokhara.

    Day 1Drive from Kathmandu - Sotikhola

    Early morning at 7am drive to Sotikhola via Arughat. There are three routes to follow: Benighat, Gorkha Bazaar and Dhading Besi. The driving duration is about 8 hrs with lunch offered en route, usually in Arughat. Ganesh Himal, Lamjung Himal, Manaslu and Annapurna mountains are visible on the way.

    Day 2Sotikhola - Machikhola

    Today you will start your trek from Sotikhola. The trail follows the upper section of Budi Gandaki River passing by Lakubesi and Nauli Khola villages. Just before Nauli Khola, you will catch the view of Sringi Himal. Machikhola is a small village with majority Gurung inhabitants. Lunch and dinner in Machikhola.

    Day 3Machikhola - Jagat

    The trail follows the gravel road till Dovan. The first village you will come upon is Khorlabesi followed by Tatopani, a natural hostspring, and then Dovan. It takes 3 hrs to reach Dovan where you will have your lunch. Thereafter we trek to Yuro Bagar or Phat by carefully crossing a steel ledge carved in cliff. In one a half hour from here will arrive in Jagat where your permits are checked. Jagat population is a mix of Gurung and other ethnic groups.

    Day 4Jagat - Dyang

    This is one of the longest trekking days. Our lunch is in Eklebhatti (1600m) and to reach there you have to cross Salleri and Phillim villages. After lunch we continue 3 and a half hours trek to Dyang via Nyak Phedi and Pewa. This section of the trail separates from the regular path to Tsum Valley. Dyang is a popular Gurung village.

    Day 5Dyang - Namrung

    We continue to follow Budi Gandaki River as before. Leaving Dyang the trail enters Pine forests. Within one and a half hours you will come to Rana Gaon and Bihi Phedi and then to Ghap where lunch is served. After lunch the trail will lead you to Jungle Hotel. Nearby you will witness an impressive sight of Budi Gandaki river carve a hole right through a boulder. You will use the same rock to cross the river and within one and a half hours arrive at Namrung. There are good resorts in Namrung with facilities of bakery, massage, sauna, wifi etc. Saula peak and Pankar Himal is easily seen from Namrung.

    Day 6Namrung - Lho Gaon

    The route from Namrung to Lho Gaon is heavily forested with chances of seeing Musk Deer, Ghoral, Kalij etc. From Namrung it is one and a half hour uphill trek to Li Gaon and another one hour to Syo Gaon. The trail from Syo Gaon to Lho Gaon offers you the first glimpse of Manaslu. Lho Gaon hosts a monastery that features musical instruments and antique weapons. Lho Gaon is itself a scenic place.

    Day 7Lho Gaon - Sama Gaon

    Make an uphill climb to Syala Gaon (3520m), one of the most popular viewpoints to see Manaslu, Peak 29, Himanchuli, Manaslu North, Naike Peak and a passing view of Manaslu Base Camp. The trail consists of several Yak shelters. After lunch at Syala we head towards Sama Gaon. Sama Gaon is a village inhabited by Tibetans featuring Buddhist chorten and monastery.

    Day 8Acclimatize in Sama Gaon

    Today we have plenty of options for side trips.

    1. Hike to Manaslu Base Camp (4400m)

    It takes 8 hrs to reach Manaslu Base Camp from Sama Gaon and back.

    1. Hike to Puggen Gumba

    Puggen Gumba located in the lap of Manaslu is an old monastery. It is also the best viewpoint to watch Manaslu, Peak 29, Himalichuli and Himalchuli West. The journey is about 5 hrs consisting of 1 hr steep uphill climb.

    1. Visit Birendra Lake

    This is the easiest option. The trip lasts about two and a half hours.

    Day 9Sama Gaon - Samdo

    The trail follows the banks of Buri Gandaki and pine forests. It is a total of 3 and a half hours journey. Samdo is the last point on the transit route between Nepal and Tibet.

    Day 10Samdo - Dharmashala

    The trek from Samdo to Dharmashala is about 4 hrs. There is an old Tibetan trade route that connects directly with Samdo. Avoiding this ancient trade route, we take alternate path and within 30 minutes we arrive at Larke Bazaar. Thence it is another 3 and a half hrs trek to Dharmashala, also called Larke Phedi, from Larke. You are likely to encounter Himalayan Blue Sheep on the trail today.

    Day 11Dharmashala - Bimtang

    Today is the toughest and longest day of our trek. We will be crossing Larke La pass (5106m) en route. At around 4am, after breakfast, we carry pack lunch and water and make an uphill trek to Larke pass. After 4 hrs of climb we will reach Larke pass which offers view of Kangaru, Annapurna II, Himlung, Cheo Himal, Gyaji kung, Larke Himal etc. Right after crossing the pass we will get the view of Puskar Lake. It is all a downhill trail to Bimtang for three and a half hours. Bimtang is itself a vantage point to see Manaslu, Punging Himal, Nidichuli (Peak 29), Himalchuli, Himlung, Puskar and some portion of Puskar Glacier.

    Note: Larke Pass is a longest pass often troubled by fierce winds. The risk of suffering high altitude sickness is high over the pass so trekkers are advised to carry enough food and water.

    Day 12Bimtang - Gho

    The trail from Bimtang goes downhill for 3 hrs all the way to Chauri Kharka (2940m)- a good point to watch Purdi Himal- and another 1 hr to drop down to Surki Khola (2500m). Stop over at Surki Khola for lunch. It is a matter of another one hour hike to reach Gho.

    Day 13Gho - Besisahar

    We will enjoy an easy downhill trek from Gho to Besisahar. After 1 hr of leaving Gho we get to Tilche and another hour to Dharapani, which rejoins main Annapurna Circuit route. In Dharapani we will take a jeep to Besisahar, a ride of around 4 hrs.

    Option 1: Those who like to extend the trek can continue from Dharapani to Tal, which takes around 2 hrs. The trek can be prolonged for another 3 days. Please consult with your guide for trek extension.

    Day 14Besisahar - Kathmandu

    After breakfast start drive back to Kathmandu. To cover the distance of 170km takes nearly 8 hrs. Lunch will be en route at a popular place called Malekhu. After arrival in Kathmandu, you will be dropped to your hotel. In the evening we will get together for celebration over farewell dinner and drinks.

    I’m a solo traveller, is there a single supplement?

    The displayed rate is based on two persons. If you are travelling alone, you need to bear the all sharing cost by yourself. So, there will be an extra single supplement charges. More numbers of participant will decrease the trip fare.

    Is Manaslu Circuit Trek 13 Nights 14 Days hard ?

    Manaslu Circuit trek is a bit challenging trek in comparison to the other trekking options such as Everest Base Camp trek, Annapurna circuit trek and Annapurna Base camp Trek. If you are physically fit enough, then this trek should be very easy for you. For some trekkers who have never done high-altitude treks, this trek could be a bit challenging to undertake as the route has several steep descents and ascents.

    Because of vegetable on its trek, there is sufficient level of oxygen that makes trip easier.

    Do I get refund if I cancel the trip?

    What should I pack for this trip?

    How fit should I need to be?

    Manaslu Circuit Trek is moderate level trek. This trek does not demand very tough physical fitness. A person with normal physical fitness level can make it. A normal physical fitness level of walking about 6 hours is required for this trek.

    FAQS

    MEALS DURING THE TRIP

    Hygienic, fresh and warm meal will be provided everyday. Guide will inspect the kitchen before every meal. Most of times, you will have vegetarian meal. 

    Rice, curry, Chapati, noodles, spaghettis, pasta, pizza, Momos common dishes for lunch and dinner. Tibetan bread, muesli, cornflakes, porridge are served on breakfast with hot drinks. Tea, coffee, hot lemon and juice are served with breakfast.

    ACCOMMODATION

    Clean and comfortable accommodation is available during this Manaslu Circuit trek. Because of less number of hotel and availability, you may need to sleep on tent also. 

    Note: In some places solar tube hot shower is available during your trip. Because of bad weather and high altitude, you may not get regular hot shower. In this case you need to purchase gas boiled water in want to take shower.

    HEALTH & SAFETY

    Hygiene food, proper rest, well plan itinerary, schedule and balanced diet will help trekkers to keep their bodies fit and healthy. It is must to drink over 3 liters of water during your trek. We suggest you to drink well boiled water. Boiled water is available in lodges.

    Trekkers have very rare chance of having high altitude sickness during this trek as maximum height of this trek is 4470 meter at the Manaslu Circuit Trek. 

    BEST SEASON FOR THIS TRIP

    Spring and Autumn are considered the best season for Annapurna Base Camp trek. Pre-monsoon and after monsoon is the ideal time for this trek. September to mid-December and February to mid-may consider the best moths for this trek. Although this trek can be complete in all seasons.

    Because of risk of avalanche during month of December-January and land slide and muddy trail in rainy season, this trekking is less popular.  Trekkers may have less chance to see good view of mountain everyday during the monsoon time as well.

    We had excellent Manaslu circuit trek with Eyes on Nepal. Everything was perfect from beginning. Although it was not our plan to make Manaslu circuit trek but because of the Bad weather in Everest region, we decided to go for Manaslu. But, I am very happy to tell that we made right decision. Trek was fantastic. Our guide Krishna and porter Ganesh were very helpful and friendly. View was nice, food were tasty. Everything were great.
