      NAGARJUN JAMACHO DAY HIKE ITINERARY

Day 1NAGARJUN HIKING ITINERARY IN DETAILS

After driving for about 20 minutes, which is around 6 kilometers from downtown Thamel, a popular place for tourists in Kathmandu, you’ll reach Fulbari gate on the Kathmandu-Trishuli Pasang Lhamu highway. It’s one way to get into Nagarjun Shivapapuri National Park and start the Nagarjun Jamacho hike. Get your ticket to enter the park, then begin the uphill walk to Jamacho, the top of Nagarjun hill.

There are two ways to get to the top. We take the steep hiking path made of stones, which is shorter but more challenging. After hiking steeply for about 30 to 45 minutes, you’ll come to a small open area with holes made by wild boars. The jungle is thick, so you won’t see the mountains or Kathmandu much. But there are lots of different plants, herbs, and trees. You might see animals like Himalayan black bear, spotted leopard, jungle cats, deers, wild boars, Rhesus monkey and many species of birds.

After about 2.5 to 3 hours of hiking, you’ll reach Jamacho. Visit the monastery and enjoy the view of the mountains. You might even get hot drinks at the top during certain times of the year. Then, start walking back downhill to Fulbari gate, which takes about 1.5 hours. If you like watching birds and butterflies, plan to spend the whole day because this hike is known for that.

We had a wonderful day with Eyes on Nepal and our guide Hari. We had very little time to hike around Kathmandu with our little kids. It was quite challenging, but Mr. Siddartha organized it quite well. His recommendation for this Nagarjun hike was absolutely fantastic. We enjoyed it a lot. A very quiet and peaceful jungle with a nice view of Kathmandu valley and around. I definitely suggest this company to organize a trip to Nepal

I had a beautiful short hike organized by Siddartha. I had no idea about this hiking destination, although I have been to Kathmandu several times. The stone-paved hiking routes were very peaceful and wonderful. I really enjoyed the trip. Special thanks to Siddartha and my guide Kumar
