We’ll pick you up at 06:00 for a 15km drive to Gurje Bhanjuang, taking about 45 minutes. After registering at the Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park, we’ll start the 10km hike to Kakani. The 3-hour hike on the bushy trails offers opportunities to explore the park’s flora and fauna, with chances to see wildlife like wild boar and barking deer. Enjoy birdwatching and butterfly watching, with stunning views of Ganesh Himal, Langtang, valleys, and villages. After the hike, we suggest grabbing a quick meal at a local restaurant before visiting the school.
Upon arrival at the school, your hiking guide will assist you in participating in school activities. If you have special talents or experiences such as music, dance, singing, sports, origami, or teaching, please let us know in advance so that you can showcase your talent, or we will arrange an opportunity for you to share your knowledge with the kids and teachers.
At 3pm, you will return to Kathmandu via pre-ordered transportation.
Kakani day hiking and volunteering in primary school is a very interesting activity if you are looking for a short hike around Kathmandu Valley and interested in volunteering work in Nepal. The hiking is easy but enjoyable. Expect to see some wildlife along with nice views of mountains and local villages.
The Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park is in Nepal. It covers an area of about 159 square kilometers. The park is home to many animals like deer, monkeys, and birds. Visitors can hike on trails, have picnics, and enjoy the peaceful nature. It’s a great place for outdoor activities and wildlife spotting.
Kakani village is about 23km from Kathmandu, situated at an altitude of 2035 meters. It is famous for picnics and mountain views. A one-hour drive from Kathmandu, you can easily reach Kakani by both public and private vehicles.
While many operators use the Kakani to Gurje Bhanjyang hiking route, we offer the opposite direction. It’s crucial to arrive at the school around 10 am to participate in its activities. If you prefer to begin hiking from Kakani, you can spend more time at the school. That’s why we hike first and participate in school activities later.
